Reading should be creative: Lalitha Lenin
The children should develop the habit of creative reading. There would be equal use and evaluation of electronic and print media. Censoring of reading should be intelligent by analysing the cultural and behavioural attitude of the children. Smt. Lalitha Lenin, poet and children’s writer, said in her inaugural address of the “Reader’s Club” at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pattom on 23rd April 2008.
The function was organised by the library in connection with World Book Day. The Principal Dr. Cicy Roy Mathew presided over the function. The prizes for the winners of Book review and Literary Quiz competitions were gave away by Smt. Lalitha Lenin.
Aims and objectives
i) Developing reading habit by the proper and directed use of information resources
ii) Developing information literacy skills that increase the ability to search, use and evaluate the information and put it the correct and timely decision making.
iii) Active participation of students, teachers and other users in library activities
iv) Developing a positive and healthy attitude towards our literature, culture and society.
a) Participation in the library activities such as routine works, planning and implementation of reading promotional programmes, special/thematic activities (exhibitions on special days and people, annoncements, bulletin board displays) etc.
