National Reading/Digital Reading Month 2020 Competitions: Register Now

KV Pattom Library celebrates National Reading/Digital Reading Month from 19 June 2020 to 18 July 2020.

What is National Reading Month?

The Library plans a number of events and competitions for students in connection with the month-long celebration. All competitions are conducted in online mode. Students and parents are requested to go through the details.

You may register for Competitions No. 2, 3, & 4 together in a form and for 1, 5, 6, & 7 separately.

Winners will be honoured with prizes and e-certificates.

Competition 1: ‘MY LOCKDOWN DIARY’– National Online Digital Journal Writing Competition

This National level online competition for school students is organized by School Library Association (India) aimed at developing their imagination, creativity and resilience during the challenging times of the prevailing pandemic.

What to Do:

The participants have to recordan account of their

daily life (including the period under lockdown) during the COVID-19 pandemic in the form of a Digital Diary. They may express their ideas, imagination or experiences in the form of any one or multiple creative formats including text (daily diary entries, stories, poems, notes, write-ups, travelogues) accompanied by photographs/pictures/drawings or videos.

How to submit the journal: After creation, share the Digital Journal with your Librarian  at his/her email id. (librarykvpattom@gmail.com)

Who can participate: 

Categories: There will be five categories of participants

Category I: Class 1 Category II: Class 2 Category III: Classes 3-5 Category IV: Classes 6-8 Category V: Classes 9-12

Competition 2: MY AUTHOR PADLET

What: Create a Padlet on your Favourite Author. Select your favourite author. Collect materials on or about him/her like notes, quotes, biography, images, website links, audio, videos, book extracts, book trailors, Book Talks, bibliography (list of books), profile, film/TV adaptations, reviews, quiz, drawings, paintings, etc.

Competition 3: STORYTIME WITH MY GRANDMA/GARANDPA

What: Have a storytime with your dearest Granma/Grandpa. Listen and record one of those beautiful stories.

It can be an audio story or a video story where you are sitting with your Grandma/Grandpa. You may record the video/audio with your mobile.

ONE MINUTE BOOK TALK

What: Read a Book and Talk about it.

Read your favourite book and talk about it for one minute. You may introduce your self, show the book, say about the author and share your reading experience about the book (plot, storyline, characters, climax, recommendations, your rating, etc). Record the video using your mobile and mail it to librarykvpattom@gmail.com

Competition 5: ESSAY WRITING

This competition is conducted by P N Panicker Foundation.

The objective of essay writing competition is to give students the

opportunity demonstrate their reading, thinking and writing skills in a

well connected and compact manner.

Topic 1: My favourite leader

Topic 2: The book(s) I love to read

Topic 3: Usage of electronic devices for learning

Eligibility: Classes 6-12

Last Date for Registration: 04th July, 2020 (Upto 11:59PM)

Date of the Competition: 20th June to 06th July, 2020 (Upto 11:59PM)

Competition 6: OPEN ART

This competition is conducted by P N Panicker Foundation.

The objective of open art competition is to engage children in a creative exercise to express themselves, stimulate their creativity and innovative ideas through art.

Eligibility: Class I-XII

Competition 7: QUIZ TIME

This competition is conducted by P N Panicker Foundation.

The objective of quiz competition is to encourage students to look beyond their textual knowledge and establish a relationship between theory and application of the learnt concepts. It helps one in expanding their knowledge in general/ specific areas of study.

Topic for the Competition

General Knowledge, Science & Technology, Logical Reasoning, Current Affairs, Awareness on National Digital Library, etc.

Eligibility: Class 8-12

Date for Registration: 10th July, 2020 (Upto 11:59PM)

Date of the Competition: 27th June to 12th July, 2020 (Upto 11:59PM)
