Khyrunnisa A. inaugurated National Library Week 2020

Ms Khyrunnisa A., famous author of children’s fiction and columnist inaugurated the National Library Week celebrations at Kendriya Vidyalaya Pattom on November 14, 2020.

Ms Khyrunnisa, the creator of popular Butterfingers Series of books interacted with children and answered their questions in a live online meet which was also streamed on YouTube.

Author Ambalika tells stories at KV Pattom

In connection with the National Library Week and Children’s Day celebrations, noted author Ms Ambalika will tell stories to children on a Live session on G-Meet and YouTube on November 17, 2020 at 5.00 pm. The G-Meet entry will be open for all Class 4 & 5 students.

Ms Ambalika, a former student of K.V. Pattom, is an engineering graduate and has completed her higher education in Communication Management & Entrepreneurship from MICA-The School of Ideas. She has worked as a Software engineer, Assistant Professor, Public Relations Executive, Corporate Trainer & Marketing Manager. Currently, she is working as a Content Manager for a leading MNC. 


She is also a story re-teller and author of three books- ‘You Adored, Me Ignored’, ‘The Joy of Being Jay’ & ‘A Letter for Gigglepot’. 

Ms Ambalika will re-tell Rabindranath Tagore’s ‘Kabuliwala‘ (Hindi) and Ruskin Bond’s ‘My Grandfather’s Pet'(English).

പത്രപ്രവര്‍ത്തനത്തിലും ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് സാഹിത്യത്തിലും ബിരുദാനന്തര ബിരുദം. കേരളകൗമുദി, കലാകൗമുദി വിമന്‍സ് മാഗസിന്‍, ഗൃഹലക്ഷ്മി തുടങ്ങിയ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണങ്ങളില്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചു. 1991 ല്‍ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ ഇന്‍ഫര്‍മേഷന്‍ സര്‍വ്വീസില്‍ ചേര്‍ന്നു. ഡയറക്ടറേറ്റ് ഒഫ് അഡ്‌വര്‍ടൈസിംഗ് ആന്റ് വിഷ്വല്‍ പബ്ലിസിറ്റി (ഡി.എ.വി.പി), പ്രസ് ഇന്‍ഫര്‍മേഷന്‍ ബ്യൂറോയുടെ തിരുവനന്തപുരം, ഗുവാഹത്തി ഓഫീസുകളില്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ആകാശവാണി യിലും ദൂരദര്‍ശനിലും ന്യൂസ് എഡിറ്ററായിരുന്നു. ഇപ്പോള്‍ എറണാകുളം ഫീല്‍ഡ് ഔട്ട് റീച്ച് ബ്യൂറോയില്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നു. ആനുകാലികങ്ങളില്‍ കോളങ്ങളും കഥകളും, ലേഖനങ്ങളും എഴുതുന്നു. സ്‌കൂള്‍ വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥിനിയായിരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ നടത്തിയ റഷ്യന്‍ പര്യടനത്തെ ആസ്പദമാക്കി 1981-ല്‍ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച ‘ബീന കണ്ട റഷ്യ’ ആണ് ആദ്യ പുസ്തകം. ബ്രഹ്മപുത്രയിലെ വീട് , ചുവടുകള്‍, നദി തിന്നുന്ന ദ്വീപ്, ബഷീര്‍ എന്ന അനുഗ്രഹം , ബഷീറിന്റെ കത്തുകള്‍ , ഡേറ്റ്‌ലൈന്‍-ചരിത്രത്തെ ചിറകിലേറ്റിയവര്‍ ,റേഡിയോ കഥയും കലയും , കൗമാരം കടന്നു വരുന്നത് , ശീതനിദ്ര , കഥകള്‍, അമ്മമാര്‍ അറിയാത്തത് , അമ്മക്കുട്ടിയുടെ ലോകം ,അമ്മക്കുട്ടിയുടെ സ്‌ക്കൂളില്‍ ,അമ്മക്കുട്ടിയുടെ അത്ഭുതങ്ങള്‍ , പെരുമഴയത്ത്, അതിര്‍ത്തിയുടെ അതിര്, കുട്ടിക്കാലം എന്നിവയാണ് പ്രധാന കൃതികള്‍. ബ്രഹ്മപുത്രയിലെ വീട് Magic of Brahmaputhra എന്ന പേരില്‍ ഇംഗ്‌ളീഷില്‍ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

പത്രപ്രവര്‍ത്തനത്തിനുള്ള വി കെ മാധവന്‍കുട്ടി അവാര്‍ഡ്, ലാഡ്‌ലി മീഡീയ പ്രാദേശിക , ദേശീയ അവാര്‍ഡുകള്‍ , രാജലക്ഷ്മി പുരസ്‌കാരം തുടങ്ങി നിരവധി അംഗീകാരങ്ങള്‍ ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

Meet the Author: Mrs K. A. Beena

Malayalam writer K. A. Beena (കെ.എ.ബീന) is an Indian author, journalist and columnist who writes in Malayalam. She started her career as a journalist for Kerala Kaumudi publications and later worked for Mathrubhumi Publications. In 1991, she joined the Indian Information Service, for the government of India. She has published 28 books including travelogues, short story collections, novels for children, collection of essays, memoirs and media-related books. In 2014 and 2016, Beena received the regional and national Laadli Media Award.She received V.K. Madhavan kutty journalism award in 2016. Along with her written works, Beena regularly contributes columns in leading publications. Beena started writing in her early school days. Beena’s first book Beena Kanda Russia, a travelogue, was written at the age of 13. The book recounts her experiences of attending the International Children’s camp at Artek, in the Ukrainian SSR, in 1977. In 1987, she became the assistant editor for the Kerala Kaumudi women’s magazine and moved to the Gruhalekshmi Mathrubhumy Group of Publications in 1989. In 1991, she joined the Indian Information Service for the Government of India and has worked as the news editor of All India Radio and Doordarshan. She also worked in the Press Information Bureau and Directorate of Advertisement and Visual Publicity. Beena is a regular columnist in many Malayalam publications. Her columns in the Kerala Kaumudi daily Adayalangal, the Mathrubhumi online Akakazcha, the Manorama online Vakkukalkappuram and the Deshabhimani weekly Vazhivilakku were widely acclaimed. She has also contributed columns to the Deshabhimani daily, Malayalam news, Vanitha, Kanyaka.

During the last 35 years, there have been numerous editions of Beena Kanda Russia. In 2015, it was republished. Her other noted work Brahmaputhrayile veedu is of her travel experiences in the North East[ambiguous]. Chuvadukal and Nadi Thinnunna Dweep are also here widely accepted travelogues. She travels to Indian villages and writes about the rural settings in many magazines. Presently[when?] working as assistant director, Directorate of Field Publicity, Ernakulam. Her book on the legendary writer Vaikom Muhammed Basheer, Basheer Enna Anugraham, is a memoir and tribute to the writer. The book reveals an unusual friendship between them. Beena’s novels for children, Ammakkuttiyude Lokam and Ammakkuttiyude School are widely read. Perumazhayath is her nostalgic memories of her friends. Sheethanidra and Kaumaram Kadannu Varunnathu are short story collections. Radio Kathayum Kalayum is the book on the history of radio broadcasting in Malayalam. Date line – Charithathe Chirakilettiyavar is the life sketches of 17 veteran journalists of Kerala. Meet the Author: Venita Coelho, 21 Sept. 2017

Venita Coelho works with images, words and paint. She is writer who has worked in film, television and literature. She has nine published books to her credit. These include ‘Dead as a Dodo’ which won the Hindu Award for the best fiction for children 2016. ‘Washer of the Dead’ was long listed for the Frank O’Connor award. She is a screenwriter, and is currently working on a film for Raj Kumar Hirani productions. As an artist she works with charcoal and with acrylic paint on glass.

Venita Coelho lives in an old Portuguese house in Goa with four dogs and a cat. She is about to set off on a great adventure – having converted a Tempo traveller into a caravan, she and her daughter are off to travel across India.

‘Meet the Author’ with Khyrunnisa A.

Ms Khyrunnisa A., Children’s Writer and Columnist interacted with the Readers’ Club members of KV Pattom during the ‘Meet the Author’ session organized in the Library on 21 January 2016.

Ms Khyrunnisa distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions. She also inaugurated a Two Day Book Fair organized in collaboration with M/s Scholastic Intl and TBS Publishers.
