Harry Potter, the children’s book without illustrations that recaptured the young readers

Harry Potter series of books proved that children’s books without illustrations can also become  so popular and trendsetters in reading and publishing, said Dr. Radhika C. Nair, Children’s writer and the translator of the first Harry Potter book into Malayalam. She was speaking at the Meet the Author session organized by the Library Media Centre in connection with the Harry Potter birthday celebration at Kendriya Vidyalaya Pattom on 28 July 2011.

Radhika C. Nair also urged the students to fetch out stories and folktales which are hidden in our local culture and more interesting than the Harry Potter saga.

The library has conducted book jacket designing, Harry Potter quiz, Harry Potter birthday recipe writing competition and an exhibition of Harry Potter books as part of the event and the prizes for the winners were distributed at the function. C.P.Kumaran, Principal, S.L.Faisal and B. Surendran (Librarians) were also present.
