If you get a chance to meet a writer, who would you prefer to  and why ?	J.K.Rowling. I have always been so surprised the way she finished off all the books giving a mind for no question to readers.
Who motivates you to read ?	My Father
Books you recommend to your friends?	Jackdaws, Shivering Sands, Sands OF Time,The Third Twin, False Impression, A matter of honour ,A Prisoner Of Birth.
Reading makes you	Think. It takes you somewhere more than reality and helps you to have more innovative ideas as its said to think “out of box”. Moreover , it is more expressive as to how people feels and their emotions. All in all reading is EVERYTHING to me.

Your First Book and who gifted it ?	I can’t really remember all that well because it was quite long ago but I think it was The Whispering Rabbit. It was gifted by my Aunt when I was four years old, I think.
Favourite Books and why ? (Title & Author)	I have way too many favourite books!! And remembering all the titles will take a long time but some of them are The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, My Family and Other Animals and Birds, Beasts and Relatives by Gerald Durrell, All Creatures Great and Small and All Things Wise and Wonderful by James Herriot, The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Emmuska Orczy, The Children of the New Forest by Frederick Marryat etc etc. These are just some of my favourite books! I don’t like to stick to a certain genre. I like dabbling in all kinds of books.
Most favourite character	Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter series
Now reading (Title & Author)	TITLE:The Picture of Dorian Gray AUTHOR: Oscar Wilde
Where do you like to read most?	Preferably on my bed. Or curled up in a chair. Now that I think about it, I like to read anywhere except in vehicles.
If you get a chance to meet a writer, who would you prefer to and why ?	J.K. Rowling, most definitely. I have read the HP series so many times that I can’t count! These books endear themselves to me because the main protagonist is far from ideal. The characters in the books are not high and mighty and noble. Everyone has a flaw and J.K. Rowling has taken care to portray human emotions, vices and virtues all together. It would be quite an honour to meet her, though I’m not putting down the works of other authors.
Who motivate you to read ?	Nobody, really. I read because I like to read and not because of being motivated or inspired. However I have my parents to thank for, for encouraging the reading habit in me from quite an early age and also for not objecting (most of the times) against me reading during exam times! My mother used to tell me stories from the books she had read during her childhood and teenage years when I was four to five years old. Conventional fairy tales were not part of my childhood, instead I grew up listening to Russian folk tales, Wuthering Heights and many other classics. I have been told that whenever my mother told me the story of Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty, I used to insist on the bad guys and good guys switching roles! I was introduced to The Scarlet Pimpernel by my mother and now it is one of my most favourite books!
Books you recommend to your friends?	I wish I could remember the names of them all. As I’m not sure what the age specifications are, my recommendations are limited. But here are a few:- His Dark Materials series by Philip Pullman(preferably for readers above the age of 13), pretty much all the works of P.G. Wodehouse for e.g. The Girl in Blue, Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister by Gregory Maguire(for a different take on Cinderella from the point of view of the stepsisters. Set in a non-magical universe. For older readers), The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende(it’s a relatively new genre known as Mystical Realism. For older readers), Dogsong by Gary Paulsen, Rosy is My Relative by Gerald Durrell, Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White, Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead(For older readers), The Bastard of Istanbul and Bonbon Palace by Elif Shafak(for older readers), The Young Samurai series by Chris Bradford, The Chalet School series by Elinor-Brent Dyer, also I would recommend reading up on folk tales and fairy tales of other cultures…they are quite entertaining!! Please experiment with all genres, don’t stick to just one.
Reading makes you…	Reading makes me escape reality and be in a world which I would never be able to visit in real life. I can be in a different world or a different character every time I read a book. While reading, I can go from sitting in a noisy classroom to riding on dragon back. Reading helps me get out of the “the Real World” which I find horrible. I pride myself on having an extreme imagination and at risk of sounding poetic ‘Reading lends my Imagination wings to lift off and fly high’. Imagination is to be cultivated because whenever you are feeling down and ragged on by people, imagining you are a different person and you’re in a different universe, lends you strength. This is the serious reason.   On a more playful note, reading gets me out of pointless conversations that I would rather avoid!!

Why I Read?	Even after the advent of internet and the information revolution, I derive the pleasure of getting informed along with rigorous thinking through reading books, journals and magazines. I always try to update my knowledge with Science Journals rather than books to keep myself up to date with latest developments as the journals give me more current developments than books.

Message to students	Take Reading as a passion. Reading does not require any special time. Our School Library has a vast collection of books. Go to the library whenever you get a chance and read the journals and the books which you find interesting. Reading a lot of books will help you find out your inner call and to realize your vocation. You are naturally attracted to books for which you are here. If some book in our library interests you, read it. But, my humble suggestion is that, don’t just read for the sake of it; think deep and Dream a lot, dream of the future world of your imagination where all the problems are solved. Share your ideas through your articles and blogs. Wish you the best of reading. Let’s grow in knowledge.

Reading makes you	Feel great. It is a great experience to travel through many imaginative worlds. Good  books have a way of setting me free. Reading can be a bond with the greatest minds. Let a great book open your heart. So friends, just read and grow!

All these books are packed with adventure and it makes you so involved in it that you feel you are one of the characters. Sherlock Holmes by Sir Author Connan Doyle. He captivates his readers with his power to deduce the complicated problems in a very extraordinary manner.

Where do you like to read most?	In my cosy little room at home
If you get a chance to meet a writer, who would you prefer to  and why ?	Eoin Colfer because I want to know how he gets his ideas to write such awe-inspiring works.
Who motivates you to read?	My parents and grandfather.
Books you recommend to your friends?	Short stories of Sherlock Holmes. Works of Charles Dickens and RK Narayan. Biographies of great men.
Reading makes you	Reading helps me enrich my vocabulary, increase my knowledge, expose me to various lifestyles and cultures and above all develop my personality.

Books	Childhood favourites: Books by Enid Blyton, and any books showing a fairy tale land and a fairy tale ending. Also books about life in boarding school, probably because I had a fascination for that life. Other Books: Classics like David Copperfield by Charles Dickens and Tess of the D’Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy. Given a chance, I would read David Copperfield again and again.
Now reading	A compilation of Indian short stories by eminent writers in most of the regional Indian languages. This is the second volume, and I still have to get hold of the first one.
Why I Read?	For personal edification, for pleasure, and for a free ride to all those far-off places which I can probably not visit in my entire lifetime. Thanks to this hobby of mine, I know not only the names of all those far-off countries in the northern and the southern hemisphere, but also something about the culture, the way of life, the bent of mind of people, why they think in that particular way, the climate and the mode of dress of the people there, and of course, the interesting places there to visit. Who knows? I may even get a chance to visit them.

Message to students	Some books may seem very childish when we take them up the first time, but we have to understand that only when the book is easy to read and understand, will the interest to read be nurtured. So though the journey may begin slowly, persevere, and soon you will be lost in the world of books. It is true indeed, that books are a person’s best friends. They provide you with comfort and company even in solitude.

Your First Book and who gifted it ?	My mother gifted me a “Famous Five” novel written by Enid Blyton.
Favourite Books and why ? (Title & Author)	1. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I love it the most because of the subtle humour in it, portrayal of old English people, the old English neighbourhood and atmosphere. 2. Harry Potter by J K Rowling. I love the way she managed to create a whole new world which exists within the world we know. 3. Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer. I love the horror element in it, the romance in it, the nerve racking suspense.
Most favourite character	Name: Hercule Poirot Book : Lord Edgware Dies
Now reading (Title & Author)	“Three Act Tragedy” by Agatha Christie
Where do you like to read most?	At home, the school library, while travelling.
If you get a chance to meet a writer, who would you prefer to ?	I would like to meet the late P G Wodehouse who never fails to capture me with his ingeniously plotted comedies which is full of subtle humour.
Who motivates you to read ?	Even as a small child my mother motivated me to read and still continues to do so.
